"We are still in Las Vegas. This is my least favorite place so far. The traffic is horrendous and there are just too many people everywhere. You can't walk down the sidewalk without bumping into people. The temperatures have been great, however, the wind has been so wicked especially yesterday where dessert stony dust was so bad that it felt like hail hitting the car. We were on our way to watch the opening of the balloon festival that they have here this weekend, but because of the weather we turned around and came back. We are staying at Nellis AFB where the Thunderbirds are stationed and training and we are just about 10 miles north of the strip on the same road. Hoover Dam was very interesting and so was Lake Mead, but we found Lake Powell prettier.
I took so many pictures and every state we went into the scenery was prettier than the last one. The southern part of Utah was just so different than all the other states. Attached are a few pictures of Red and Bryce Canyon. We happened to catch "Sunset Point" at Bryce Canyon just at sunset and the mountains looked like they were lit up from the inside. The pictures are pretty but it was so much more beautiful in reality.
We'll be here until the 27th of September and then it's off to the Grand Canyons."
